Clifton-Fine Central School is offering eight Adult Education courses during winter and spring of 2011. Read through the courses below and chose one that sounds good. You can register by mail or by phone. Payment is due at the first class meeting.

Scrapbooking
Tuesday 6:00pm - 8:00pm
January 11, 18, 25 February 1, 8, 15
Instructors: Mary Kay Durham

Fee - $15.00 (Some supplies included
This course will introduced you to the basic skills of scrapbooking; embellishments, layouts, color, text, and journaling. You will learn to use scrapbooking tools; stamps, cutters, electronic cutters... If you already are a scrapbooker you are more than welcome to attend. You can use this time to meet like minded people, share ideas, and work on your own projects.

Beginning Sewing
Wednesday 6:00 - 8:00

Instructor - Mary Kay Durham
Fee - $15.00
This beginning sewing course will teach you; how to sew using a portable sew machine, how to choose a pattern, how to cut from a pattern, how to choose fabric, and how to assemble the finished product. Once you master the technique of using the machine, you can begin a project of your choice, with the guidance of Mrs. Durham. There are some machines available but if you have your own, please bring it with you.

Literacy for Parents

Babysitting will be provided

For parents of pre-school and elementary age children who wish to learn how to help their child become a competent reader. You will learn practical ways to help your children be successful in school or be prepared to enter school. Ms. Hubbard will advise parents on what books to read, how to read to them and what questions to ask. This course will prove to be invaluable to parents.

Fundamentals of Knitting
Saturdays 10:00am - 12:00noon

Instructor - Katherine Johnson
Fee - $15.00
Katherine is experienced at knitting, tatting, crocheting, and spinning. She has taught many people to knit and is excited to be able to teach this course. She will start you right out on a project. The yarn and knitting needles will be supplied for the beginning projects. Just bring your nimble fingers and be ready to learn a craft that will be with you the rest of your life..

Fundamentals of Finance
Wednesday 7:00pm - 8:30pm

Instructor - Chris Riley
Fee - $15.00

This is a course for anyone who wants to know more about personal finance and investing.
The course will include the following;
Finance Markets and Institutions
Money and time—how money grows in relation to time and investment rates.
Understanding different investments and how they work; stocks, bonds, mutual funds, currency markets, and commodities.

Introductory Spanish
Tuesdays 6:00pm - 7:00pm

Instructor - Holly Durham
Fee - $15.00

This course, taught by our high school Spanish Teacher, is an introduction to Spanish. You do not need to have any prior experience with the language but if you took last year’s “Survival Spanish” you will enjoy this course. You will learn the basics of the Spanish Language; pronunciation, vocabulary, gender, the conjugation of verbs and beginning conversations.

Beaded Jewelry

Fee - $15.00(includes supplies)

This course is for beginners and for those who like to get together to bead. Learn to make your own beaded jewelry and other accessories. You will leave the course with at least one necklace, one bracelet, and a beaded bookmark. You will learn to use glass beads and natural beads with wire, elastic, and cording. This course promises to be a great creative outlet and fun for all.

Latin Dance
Monday 6:00pm - 8:00pm
April 18, 25 May 2, 9, 16, 23
Teacher - Holly Durham
Fee - $15.00
This course, taught by our high school Spanish Teacher, is an introduction to Latin Dance. You do not need any prior Latin dance experience. There is no need to bring a partner because we will be rotating partners. In this class we will learn steps from Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, and Cumbia. This will be light exercise. Women should wear flat shoes or heels but sneakers are not recommended. Men can wear any type of shoe.
