The academic leaders for the class of 2013 at Clifton-Fine Central School are Carl Twyman, valedictorian, and Lindsay Johnson, salutatorian.
Mr. Twyman is the son of Maria and Carl Twyman, Wanakena. He received the University of Rochester Frederick Douglas and Susan B. Anthony Award, Academic All Northern recognition from Section X, and was a St. Lawrence University Augsbury North Country Scholar nominee. Carl is a member of the National Honor Society and Student Council. He participated in the St. Lawrence University Scholars Enrichment Program, soccer, wrestling, baseball, NYSSMA, school musicals, senior play, Unique Occupations, and the Envirothon. Carl volunteered with the Tiger Wrestling Program and worked at Stone Manor in Cranberry Lake. He plans to attend Rochester Institute of Technology in the fall where he will major in Computer Science.
Miss Johnson is the daughter of Pamela and Timothy Johnson, Star Lake. She received the University of Rochester Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award, the Clarskon Leadership Award, and Academic All Northern recognition from Section X. She is a member of National Honor Society, Spanish Club, and Student Council and is vice president of her class. She participated in soccer, basketball, track, the Envirothon, band, chorus, All County Chorus, NYSSMA, school musicals, senior play, the St. Lawrence University Scholars Enrichment Program, and Clarkson University’s Project Challenge. She was also a member of the boys varsity wrestling team. She has volunteered at Canton-Potsdam Hospital and with the Drama Club. Lindsay has worked at the Pinecone Restaurant. She plans to attend college in the fall and ultimately pursue a career in Veterinary Medicine.
